Mining engineer graduates joining Barminco are welcome to participate in our Graduate Program.
The two and a half year program for graduate mining engineers provides the necessary experience to qualify for the certificates of competency required for becoming statutory mine managers. The growth and development of each graduate is promoted through the program's focus on:
- hands on training in skills unique to careers in mining,
- exposure to many different underground mining methods and environments, and
- building core leadership skills required to effectively manage people and teams.
Barminco graduates receive a competitive remuneration package which reflects the academic qualifications and performance standards we expect of our graduates.
The Barminco Graduate intake takes place annually from April each year to start in January the following year. We encourage potential graduates to participate in the Vacation Work Program.
Since the late 1990s, Barminco has been running a highly recognised and accredited advanced apprenticeship program.
Based at our head office in Perth, Western Australia, we provide training at our fully equipped workshop and support this through development programs on-site. We provide apprenticeships in areas including:
- Heavy Plant Mechanics,
- Auto Electricians, and
- Boilermaker & Fabrication (Welding).
Barminco recognises natural ability, as well as prior experience and knowledge in our Apprentices. We encourage:
- Mature age applicants and candidates with prior mining industry experience and knowledge.
- Our current trade qualified employees to participate in up-skilling and gaining cross-trade qualifications.
Apprentices receive competitive remuneration and on-the job coaching. Barminco has been recognised for its commitment to supporting apprentices and implementing innovative training solutions.
Start your career with Barminco by enlisting in the Barminco Vacation Work Program.
Barminco offers students in their second and third years of their mine engineering degrees access to the Barminco Vacation Work Program. The work is meaningful as trainees participate in a variety of assistant and trainee underground roles.
Applicants are recruited to participate in the summer program and are often invited to return for the winter vacation period.
Barminco encourages our vacation work students to participate in further vacation work over the course of their degree, with the aim of enlisting into our Graduate Program upon completion of their degree.
We commence recruitment for our Vacation Work Program approximately eight weeks before the summer vacation period.
