Current Projects


Owned by Gold Fields Australia, the Agnew Mine Site is located 23km west of the town of Leinster in Western Australia, approximately 375km north of Kalgoorlie and 1000km (by road) northeast of Perth. Barminco is responsible for the development, production, shotcrete and diamond drilling on this site. Gold is sourced from underground operations and processed via a CIP plant.

Dugald River

Dugald River is located approximately 70km north west of Cloncurry in Queensland. Barminco is responsible for the underground mining at the site, of which our client is MMG and where lead is mined. The Kalkadoon people are the traditional owners of the land in which Dugald River is located. Our client works closely with the Kalkadoon people with regards to cultural heritage clearance and involvement in the on-going operation of the project.

Flying Fox & Spotted Quoll

Owned by Western Areas, the Forrestania Nickel Project is located approximately 400km south east of Perth, and currently consists of three areas of production. Forrestania has two working mines, Flying Fox and Spotted Quoll.

Flying Fox was the first mine developed by Western Areas and is one of the highest-grade Nickel deposits in the world.

The Spotted Quoll underground nickel mine was the second mine developed by Western Areas, who discovered the ore body midway through 2007. Production commenced at the Spotted Quoll Mine in mid-2009.


Owned by Independence Group NL, the Nova Operation is located in the Fraser Range, approximately 140km east-north-east of Norseman and 220km south east of Kalgoorlie, with the Ngadju People being the traditional owners of the land. In 2015 Barminco was awarded the contract for the excavation of a boxcut and portal, and the subsequent underground mining at the nickel operation.


Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, and owned by MMG Limited. The operation is located approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Hobart and 125 kilometres south of Burnie. It has operated continuously since 1936. The mine an integral part of the community and the majority of Rosebery employees are local to the area. Barminco is responsible for the mechanised underground mining at Rosebery.

Sunrise Dam

The Sunrise Dam Gold Mine is located east of Lake Carey, just over 50 kilometres from Laverton in the Northern Goldfields of Western Australia, 220 kilometres north east of Kalgoorlie. Our client is Anglo Gold Ashanti, and our contract includes the underground development work as well as that of the underground mining operation, including production, once development is completed. Since it was first commissioned the Sunrise Dam mine has produced over five million ounces of gold.


Sukari Mine Site is located in Upper Egypt approximately 30km inland from Marsa Alam, which is located on the West Coast of the Red Sea. Our client is Sukari Gold Mines, a subsidiary of Centamin Egypt LTD. Barminco are responsible for the entire Underground mining contract with share contracting of the diamond drill division. Our contract requires us to train Egyptian nationals to an acceptable standard of which those standards are currently used in Australia.

Rampura Agucha

Located in Rajasthan, India and owned by Hindustan Zinc, Rampura Agucha Mine Site is one of the world’s largest integrated producers of zinc and is among the leading global lead and silver producers. Rampura Agucha operations include both open pit and underground mining with Barminco being the contractor for underground operations. The project includes two declines, two ventilation shafts and a paste fill plant.

Africa (AUMS)

African Underground Mining Services (AUMS) is a 50/50 joint venture with Barminco and AusDrill.

Our current projects are spread over three African countries; Ghana, Burkina Faso and Tanzania. Barminco are responsible for the underground mining and diamond drilling divisions across the various sites. Our current contacts require us to train African nationals to an acceptable standard of which those standards are currently used in Australia.
