The Training Coordinator (Trades/Artisan Programs) for Barminco will establish and improve inductions and artisan programs to ensure new employees can assume their duties competently and safely. The position will support both off and on-site training programs and work with leaders, site trainers and employees to ensure learning outcomes are achieved.

Key Responsibilities will include:

• Identify the training needs of Barminco’s Zone 5 new starters and work with key stakeholders to develop fit for purpose programs in line with AQTF and relevant international equivalents (BQA).
• Assist to establish a fit for purpose training centre that is appropriately resourced to facilitate induction and artisan training.
• Work with key business stakeholders to determine artisan competence criteria and facilitate training plans for new and existing artisans to ensure capabilities are assessed, recognition of prior learning is applied, and competency gaps are addressed.
• Engage with operations leaders to identify technical training opportunities and source specialized training programs with OEMs and training vendors to improve technical capabilities
• Identify opportunities to enhance artisan training in the use of learning technology (e.g. VR/AR) and work with vendors to design and integrate programs for effect
• Audit training delivery and measure training impacts both internally and externally to ensure training needs are being addressed and training standards are continuously improved.

Qualifications and Skills necessary:

• Hold a Certificate IV training qualification and greater than 5 years’ experience in training leadership roles, specifically related to mining.
• Trades Certificate (Cert III) or international equivalent
• Experience in establishing trades training programs for “Greenfield Projects” and in establishing fit for purpose training venues.
• International mining experience and the ability to adapt programs to meet the cultural learning needs of Nationals.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels within an organization and can always maintain professional decorum.
• Extensive knowledge of relevant Mining Legislation, Acts, Regs and Standards that need to be referenced within induction and trades training programs and the ability to source equivalent legal references for international operations.
• Extensive knowledge of AQTF and the ability to map training programs to nationally recognized units of competence.
• Experience in applying learning technology in program design and experience in utilizing mining simulators (including virtual reality VR) for effect.
