Payroll Specialist – Canadian Local

The Opportunity:Barminco Canada Mining Services Ltd is currently has an exciting opportunity for an Accountant with Payroll experience to join our Operations Team at Williams Mine, Hemlo Operations, working an ongoing 5 days on / 2 days off drive in/drive out roster living locally. Alternative work rotation may be considered for the right candidate.Reporting to the Site Project Manager/Site Accountant you will be responsible for the compilation and preparation of all payroll related information for Barminco employees in relation to the appropriate awards, agreements or remuneration plans and for the facilitation of employee payments.Working with Barminco will provide you with an excellent opportunity to further develop your career and work alongside experienced industry professionals in a safe, dynamic and outcome focused environment.Duties and Responsibilities:Process Payroll for 300+ Employees for each periodic pay periodTimesheet analysis to calculate overtime payMaintenance of employee payroll recordsOversee the audit and control activities for each payroll cycle including reconciliations and timely submission of all payroll-related statutory filings and payments, and provide evidences as needed to auditors.Prepare and issue year-end T4 and other summary reportsProvide advice on best practices on routine as well as complex payroll transactions while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and internal policiesMonth-end close and reportingBank and balance sheet account reconciliationsInter-company reconciliation and reportingAccounts Payable/Receivable processingAd-hoc management reportingAssist in maintaining and improving financial systems, processes, and proceduresSkills, Experience & Attributes:At least 2 to 5 years’ experience in a similar positionKnowledge and understanding of payroll preparation and administration requirements and of relevant Canadian taxation legislationExcellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detailAppreciate the importance of confidentiality with regards to commercial and personal information.Post-Secondary Diploma, Business Administration with a specialisation in accounting.Ability to work as part of a team or independentlyAbility to work flexible hours as requiredBarminco Mining Services Canada Limited welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process Payroll for 300+ Employees for each periodic pay period

  • Month-end close and reporting
  • Bank and balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Inter-company reconciliation and reporting
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable processing
  • Ad-hoc management reporting
  • Assist in maintaining and improving financial systems, processes, and procedures

Skills, Experience & Attributes:

  • At least 2 to 5 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Knowledge and understanding of payroll preparation and administration requirements and of relevant Canadian taxation legislation
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Appreciate the importance of confidentiality with regards to commercial and personal information.
  • Post-Secondary Diploma, Business Administration with a specialisation in accounting.
