As part of the Perenti Group, Barminco employs over 4,300 people, at 22 projects in seven countries.With our forecasted growth, we are seeking applications from experienced Technical Services Superintendents and Senior Mining Engineers to join our team in Hazelmere.About the roleThe purpose of this position is to provide technical and engineering solutions along with business improvement outcomes for our operations globally. This is a collaborative and supportive role requiring the use of technical mining best practice to deliver value for our new and existing customers.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, Barminco’s clients and client representatives, employees, management and supplier contactsSupport technical reviews, cost forecasting, resource allocation, life of mine/monthly/weekly progress tracking and reportingSupport and advise the tendering team, review of tender schedules and designsMaintain an active register for mine planning risks and opportunities across the businessParticipate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awarenessAssist with the development of systems, processes and practices for the newly created Technical Services divisionAdvise on underground mine design, including drill and blast, sequence and scheduling and operational optimisationsAct in the best interests of Barminco, by working within legislation that underpins the Company’s operation, as well as ensuring that decisions are based on the achievement of Barminco’s objectivesEnsure conduct which is consistent with Barminco’s values, policies, systems, procedures and statutory requirementsEnsure all works under area of control are completed to a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirementsSupervise, mentor and train engineering graduates to become an asset within the businessIdentify productivity and cost reduction opportunitiesParticipate in the development of the department annual budget activities and tracking progress Key RequirementsBachelor degree in Mining EngineeringUnderground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Managers (FCMM) Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded2 years’ experience and the completion of underground time5 years’ experience in Mine Design, Scheduling and Drill and BlastTechnical report writing skillsEffective verbal and written communicationDeswik software experience essentialWhat we can offer;An exciting career opportunity to join a company continuing in a phase of growth domestically and internationallyA permanent full-time role with career progression for successful candidatesThe future opportunity to work across our Australian and International operationsEmployee incentives, benefits and rewards programsHazelmere location with onsite gym and café facilitiesAt Barminco, our people are our businessIt's the people we retain who define our culture, shape our company and drive the growth of our business. With our forecasted growth, we are seeking applications from experienced Technical Services Superintendents and Senior Mining Engineers to join our team in Hazelmere.

About the role

The purpose of this position is to provide technical and engineering solutions along with business improvement outcomes for our operations globally. This is a collaborative and supportive role requiring the use of technical mining best practice to deliver value for our new and existing customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, Barminco’s clients and client representatives, employees, management and supplier contacts
  • Support technical reviews, cost forecasting, resource allocation, life of mine/monthly/weekly progress tracking and reporting
  • Support and advise the tendering team, review of tender schedules and designs
  • Maintain an active register for mine planning risks and opportunities across the business
  • Participate and contribute to safe practice and environmental awareness
  • Assist with the development of systems, processes and practices for the newly created Technical Services division
  • Advise on underground mine design, including drill and blast, sequence and scheduling and operational optimisations
  • Act in the best interests of Barminco, by working within legislation that underpins the Company’s operation, as well as ensuring that decisions are based on the achievement of Barminco’s objectives
  • Ensure conduct which is consistent with Barminco’s values, policies, systems, procedures and statutory requirements
  • Ensure all works under area of control are completed to a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirements
  • Supervise, mentor and train engineering graduates to become an asset within the business
  • Identify productivity and cost reduction opportunities
  • Participate in the development of the department annual budget activities and tracking progress 

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering
  • Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Managers (FCMM) Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded
  • 2 years’ experience and the completion of underground time
  • 5 years’ experience in Mine Design, Scheduling and Drill and Blast
  • Technical report writing skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Deswik software experience essential
