Through UMA Obuasi‘s breast and prostate cancer awareness initiative, our team is helping improve health outcomes across Ghana. With breast cancer being the most common cancer among women and prostate cancer the second most prevalent among men, the team focused on education and early detection. The team trained 300 local tailors and dressmakers – respected and trusted voices in their communities – to share essential information on cancer detection, screening, and treatment. They reach over 560,000 clients annually with life-saving knowledge. The initiative also provided free screenings to more than 500 individuals, and the health benefits of increasing awareness will be seen for years to come.
