Barminco is one of the world’s largest hard rock underground mining services companies, with operations in Australia, Africa and North America.
Your full-service underground mining partner.
Underground Mining Alliance (UMA) is supporting safer and more efficient patient care in Obuasi through the donation of a vein finder device to the AngloGold Ashanti Health Foundation.
The device supports patients who require frequent venous access for treatment, including those attending the Sickle Cell Clinic. For some patients, particularly children and older people, locating a suitable vein can be difficult and may result in multiple needle attempts, discomfort and delays in treatment.
Vein-finding technology helps clinicians identify veins more accurately, supporting successful first attempts and creating a more comfortable and efficient experience for patients.
The initiative reflects UMA’s commitment to practical community investment and supports our Health, Wellbeing & Education social value pillars by helping strengthen access to quality healthcare in communities connected to its operations.
Through initiatives such as this, UMA continues to work with local organisations to support community needs and contribute to positive, sustainable health and wellbeing outcomes beyond mining.
