At Barminco above all, we are dedicated to ensuring the health, well-being and safety of our people.

Our commitment to eliminate the potential for serious or fatal injuries and ensure our people finish every shift injury-free is unwavering.

To achieve this we will:

  • Maintain a team of competent, engaged people and ensure they are trained in the requirements of their role.
  • Continually promote awareness of our critical risks and the individual behaviours we expect.
  • Communicate regularly with our people about safety-related issues to develop a supportive and open safety culture.
  • Implement systems that support the physical and mental health of our people.
  • Review our risk-based safety management system and develop our safety leadership and safety programs to:
    • Report and thoroughly investigate all incidents.

Environment

Barminco is dedicated to minimising the effect that our operations have on the environment.

Our environmental commitments are to:

  • Respect the environmental, heritage and conservation values where we operate.
  • Minimise noise, dust, air emissions and hydrocarbon or chemical spills.
  • Reduce our footprint by minimising energy use, greenhouse emissions, water use and waste generation.
  • Comply with environmental legislation and develop environmental management systems to improve our environmental performance.

To achieve these objectives, we will

  • Develop, implement, and monitor environmental management plans for each work location.

  • Design, operate, and decommission all sites including any associated infrastructure to avoid any adverse environmental impact.
Quality

Barminco is committed to best practice underground mining services.

Our operational and business activities are conducted within an Integrated Management System (IMS) environment to enable us to deliver consistent and reliable performance; and to drive efficiency, optimisation and reduced variability within a robust and auditable quality assurance framework.

To achieve this we will: 

  • Understand our clients’ needs and provide products and services that consistently meet or exceed their requirements.
  • Design and implement rigorous systems and operational controls including documented policies, standards procedures, templates and guidelines.
  • Audit and improve governance and management systems to ensure compliance with ISO standards.
Community

Barminco acknowledges our role in contributing to the social and economic development in the community. We are committed to establishing and maintaining lasting and positive relationships in the communities that we operate in.

We implement programs to increase participation, develop skills and capabilities, and identify career paths for local people. We give preference to the local procurement of goods and services in line with our procurement standards, and participate in community infrastructure development projects.

We recruit qualified, capable and competent people and manage our employment and remuneration processes in compliance with all legal and contractual requirements, including relevant Industry Awards and agreements. Our people are fully inducted and trained to achieve required competencies, and individual grievances are resolved in a timely manner.

Privacy

Barminco is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information. In our day-to-day operations we may collect personal information directly from our employees, prospective employees, clients, suppliers or investors. We may also collect personal information from indirect sources such as website cookies, subcontractors or third-party recruitment agencies. Personal Information may include names, addresses and birth dates. We will only use or disclose personal information for the primary purpose(s) for which it was collected. Employee personal information will only be used for purposes related to the employment relationship.

Sensitive information may be collected if required for business purposes. This may include health information, racial origins, marital status or criminal record, and will only be collected with prior consent of the individual.

Barminco may also collect sensitive information if required for its standard functions and operations. Sensitive information, which can include health information, racial origins, marital status and criminal record, will only be collected with the individual’s prior consent.

Subject to reasonable protective measures and prior consent, we may disclose personal information where it is necessary, authorised or required by law, including to overseas third parties.

To ensure the privacy of personal information, our employees, contractors and consultants will take steps, so far as practical and in all cases as required by law, to:

  • Embed privacy protections into the design of information handling practices to protect personal information from misuse, interference or loss;
  • Take steps to ensure that the information stored is accurate and up-to-date; and
  • Where data is no longer required by law or for the primary purpose it was obtained, destroy or de-identify it.

In the event we become aware of a data breach we will contain, assess and respond to the breach appropriately and as soon as possible to minimise potential impacts for any affected person. In the event of an Eligible Data Breach, where we believe there is a serious risk of harm to an individual, we will work to resolve issues promptly and ensure that the relevant Supervisory Authority and affected individual is notified.
